And this picture isn't a Vermeer
Just as the passage in John's Gospel isn't by John, so this picture isn't by Vermeer, but by the Dutch forger Han van Meegeren, painted c1941 - 1942.
It may look ridiculout to us, but it it fooled Göring, who paid the equivalent of $6 million for it.
